Tadich Grill has been in the business for over 150 years. They are considered the oldest restaurant in California dating back to the gold mining days. I'm not sure what part of the restaurant is original but it definitely has a rustic feel to it. (See Pics# 2-4). We arrived for a late dinner and surprised to see groups of people waiting for a rare private booth and 50+ people eating at the counter. They don't accept reservations and is first come first serve basis. We lucked out with a 2 seater next to a booth. Although the pictures don't show Tadich Grill being busy, the restaurant was completely PACKED and noise level was higher than average. Probably not a good idea to bring the kids for a late dinner, I'd recommend going for an early lunch or securing a private booth.

Service at Tadich Grill was outstanding and our waiter provided excellent attention while balancing numerous tables. Browsing the menu, it looks like the thing to get is seafood anything, we did just that and ordered a lot of food.

tadich platter - this seafood plate had about 7 different seafood critters on it with mixed veggies and cheese. Served slightly chilled, all the seafood was extremely fresh; calamari, sand dabs, salmon, oysters, shrimp, dungeness crab, and anchovies. I don't even like anchovies and would eat it again. Oysters were good, placed a dab of lemon and tabasco, slid down easily.

clam chowder - They werent too heavy on the clams but I think the ocean taste made up for that, barely any potatoes is a plus in my book, some of the best chowder I've had. If you eat with someone else, order the bowl for $6 and ask for 2 cups. It's plenty of chowder to be shared.

seafood saute - when you first taste the sauce, your heart might skip a beat or two. I don't claim to know how they make the sauce but its an ultra rich buttery creamy something you'll be wanting to go to the gym for the next 2 weeks treadmilling to burn this awesome tasting sauce. The seafood was amazing too, scallops were excellent size, shrimps were larger than normal, and crab was a fine treat too. All seafoods were cooked PERFECTLY, all of them melted in my mouth. My veggies and rice were ok but the real stars were the sauce and seafood.

Parking might be a pain, so you might want to try a late dinner when there's more available parking on california. They are open from 11-10 Mon-Sat. Tonights dinner was amazing, everything about the experience was exceptional. I honestly think the food was in the 9.5 range but the meal comes at a price. We spent ~$60 a person which by jatbar standard is waaaaay beyond the norm. Does that mean I wouldn't come back? Heck no, I'm adding this place to my list when friends and family come into town. I'm saying Tadich Grill is a must visit for any seafood lover.
