One of jewels of San Francisco brightly displayed on the busy corner of Van Ness and Geary. Tommys Joynt is an official landmark thats been operating for 57 years. Serving buffet style food at AWESOME prices.

Ordering can be a bit confusing and overwhelming at first. When you walk in, to your right is the menu with the food displayed in the buffet style case. If you cant make any sense of the menu, just point to the foods you want and you'll get it.

We stopped here after the last Beulah show at the Fillmore...rockin show btw :) Another good thing about Tommys Joynt is they serve late in the night (1:45AM). I got the turkey breast, mashed potatoes, bbq beans, and stuffing. Gaaaawww damm its a great value for the flavor. Turkey was a little drier than usually but its 1:30 in the morning? How can you complain? The entire meal tasted excellent...Im not saying this is the same calibur of meal you can get at a 5 star restaurant but SHOW ME a restaurant that will serve you a GREAT tasting turkey dinner for $7!!

Tommy's Joynt is another late night favorite of mine. Dont miss out on the bargain meal...sure the interior is a bit tacky, somewhat rundown, food can look sloppy, but that's what makes Tommy's special. Order the Turkey, Roastbeef, or Corned Beef and Cabbage. I've never tried there sandwiches but if there other food is this good, dont be afraid to give it a try.

Back when I could eat meat, I went to Tommys once or twice. This was definitely an experience. The prices were amazing, the food was delicious (just look at the photos!). I don't eat meat anymore so I doubt there's much here for me now, but I think I would go for it anyway if I was there. If you want some honest food that warms you up for not a lot of $, Tommys is your place.

Its one of Metallicas favorite places to go get some grub as well. In fact they recruited Jason Newstead to join their band in Tommys restroom.

Tommys Joynt reminded me of home. In central Texas, a lot of BBQ places have a similar layout: no real menu, cafeteria style line you walk down and just ask for what you want. I also love places like this because you can get turkey and stuffing year around.

I ordered the turkey and stuffing. The mashed potatoes were really good, the stuffing was delicious and you get a hearty roll with it. The food was all tasty. Nothing out of this world, but lots to choose from – there will definitely be something there to satisfy anyone.

The atmosphere here is great: lots of stuff on the walls, dark wood and a balcony area to get a view of the whole place. Tommys is also open late. I went after a show at the Fillmore when most other stuff in the area was closed. Tommys is definitely a unique place to which I wouldnt hesitate to return.
