It was cold outside, a bit rainy, basically a perfect day to get Pho or Ramen. We should have known there was going to be a line and had to divert our lunch attention to the thai place a couple of doors down. Looks like we just missed Aroy-Dee lunch rush as the place was nearly empty. It didnt bother me too much as I noticed the carved wooden statues, beautiful asian art, table linens, and large seating capacity...all the things telling me this restaurant probably makes money, so Im thinking their food has got to be decent? I got the shrimp pad thai lunch special. It came with a salad, soup, and the main course. Salad - lettuce with a one of my favorite dressings, its kind of a sweet peanut based sauce. I swear you can put that peanut sauce over anything and it will turn it good. Soup - this was a definite winner to me. Bursting with flavors and heat, veggies were firm, lemon grass wasnt overwhelming, snow peas had their snap, fish sauce kept to a minimum, one of the better thai soups Ive had. Pad Thai - very nice serving, enough shrimps to go around with the noodles. Noodles were super sticky and had a decent helpings of tofu and eggs. I also liked the orange and honeydew to follow your meal Although I had my hopes up for ramen, Im glad we made a stop to Aroy-Dee as the atmosphere and food was quite gratifying. I left there with a happy feeling and full stomach. Did I mention the prices are very attractive? Did I mention they have a good vegetarian section? So, if you are not willing to wait the lines at Ramen Halu, come swing by Aroy-Dee for a delectable meal that wont hurt the wallet.
