Bascom donuts was a wishlist request that was sitting around for a long time. I finally hit it up before work the other day. It was a good find indeed. It looked to be like an old school Winchells or something. Cool building with lots of windows. Not your standard strip mall donut shop. The Selection was most impressive. I had a hard time choosing. I ended up being a pig and going with 3 different types of donuts (its for Jatbar!) haha. Anyway, all of the donuts I chose were really good. Each was full of flavor - even if they weren't still warm, they were obviously fresh tasting and quite tasty. I would not hesitate to return here if I was in the area. Glazed, especially, were VERY good. Owners were very friendly and even threw in 3 donut holes. Right on!

Is it bad to pick-up a dozen donuts after a doctor's visit? I was leaving Los Gatos on my way into work mid-morning last Friday when I spotted Bascom Donuts... Sounded like a good way to make my co-workers smile.

Parking was a little tight but the place was full of retired guys with donut, coffee and newspaper in hand. The 'member's only' jackets were a telltale sign these were old timers and Bascom Donut regulars.

I walk in and am greeted by a sweet short Asian lady. I see her face but not much else. She probably called me 'ma'am' 10 times. She was quick and helpful... Sharp too - she stood on a milk crate at the register since her reach was a little short.

Place is a bit run down and looks like a previous Winchell's was once located here. Glass on the display cases was clear and other than some worn out flooring place was tidy.

I ordered a dozen donuts, old fashioned, raised, and cake... both chocolate and plain varieties. They even had blueberry cake donuts.

I grabbed my pink box and off to the car. I think I'll have the chocolate old fashioned one. EXCELLENT donut! Slightly bigger than my usual donut stop and a thicker more chocolately flavor of glaze, not too sweet... VERY fresh tasting and it's 10:00 AM. I haven't had a real donut in over a year so this place had to be good.

The raised were a good size, on par with other places and not too sticky. The cake donuts were also on par with other donut shops. I like their red sprinkles since hey, we are getting close to Valentine's day... Everyone at work wanted to know where I got these.

They had the standard milk, juice and coffee but they also offer espresso drinks.

Overall, a great donut experience and plenty of variety at 10 AM on a Friday bumps then from a 8 to 8.5.

If in the area - this is a must stop! (just don't tell my doc!)

Forcella ate...

A couple of chocolate cake donuts & coffee

These are excellent donuts...great flavor, none of the "burnt lard" taste that some donut shops have. A chocolate donut tastes like the thing it SHOULD taste like...a chocolate donut, and a GOOD one. No more, no less.
