Before I start praising Bijan Bakery for their wonderful pastries, the parking lot they reside in is a pain in my ass. They have speedbumps every 20 feet and not enough parking spots.

For a bakery, Bijan appeared quite busy. If didnt bother me too much since I was admiring their wide selection of pastries. I must have changed my mind 2-3 times until I finally decided on the raspberry dessert pastry cream layered white moist cake not to sweet raspberry jam topped lovely cake I could eat once a week for the month of may. I got carried away with my last sentence, maybe it had something to do with the awesome tasting cake I had for lunch.

I need to make a return visit for their cookies and sandwiches. I dont think it will be hard to convince Terry, he ate this messy dessert brick looking thing with custard and thin layers of pastry.

Well you read Jasons review about the parking situation so I won't go there. The place was a bit busy, but thats OK because you take a number and then go peruse all of the items they have available. At first glance, it looked like a normal selection. I wasn't sure how good it would taste. Its easy to be fooled by pastries as they ALWAYS look good.

I changed my mind a few times and finally settled on the Napoleon. Unlike the dimunitive French leader, this thing was MASSIVE. A large chunk of pastry for under $3.

It was a little bit tough to eat because of the plastic fork they gave me, so I ended up having to half-scraping it with the fork and half grabbing and shoving into my mouth. OMG, this thing was SOOO good. Completely fresh and all flavors bursting through. It was creaming with powdered sugar on top. The cream wasn't overpoweringly rich, but was a nice combination. Everything melted in your mouth perfectly.

I cannot wait to try a cake here. I'm sure its near Vienna Bakery standards. Also of note, 2 doors down is another Bijan bakery specializing in wedding cakes, etc.

Located within the Lions Plaza towards the Kiely Blvd side, a Burger King is located on the corner of Saratoga and Kiely Blvd.

Take a number and scan the items that interest you. There are no names or prices associated with the items so you must point to what you want when ordering. After a short wait, I decided on the Napoleon, which is what Terry ordered, and the Mango Mousse. My helper placed the desserts in a small box and ran up cash register for a total of $5.25.

It seems most people to frequent this bakery order the plat bread or coffee with muffin. Bijan Bakery offers sandwiches, coffee, cookies, pastries, cakes, home made chocolates, and ice cream. The bakery is spacious with patio seating out in front and in a sectioned side area.

Mango Mousse: The mousse was very sweet. You definitely need a drink eating this dessert, either coffee or water. The cake is not as sweet as American cakes but it is getting there. The cake itself is not sweet, as the cake is fresh and moist but the mousse is light but honey sweet. (7.5/10)

Napoleon: Three layers are flakey pastry smothered with custard filling topped off with generous portions of powdered sugar. This dessert is impossible to eat with a fork (aluminum). The only tool fit for this task is your hands. If you enjoy custard then this is the dessert for you. The pastry is light and flakey but there is too much custard. The custard is rich and sweet. Again, this is a dessert you need drink by your side. I was only able to tackle half of this pastry, as there is too much custard. (7/10)

Pluses: Service, selection and price.

Minuses: Desserts and pastries too sweet.

Taste: 7.5
Add 0.5 pts for service, price, and selection.

Very good neighborhood persian bakery. Competent and friendly staff/service. Excellent baked goods and desserts.

Baked goods (Cookies, etc) are about $6.25/lb and cake slices vary individually. They also sell misc items such as rock candy, joseph schmidt truffles and ice cream.

I would prefer better packaging when it comes to presentation, other then that it's a notch above the rest.

Cake, wedding cake, napolean

What did you think? Wonderful, only place w/ real butterceam frosting made from real butter. Flavors r incredible like mango & tiramisu. Tried napolean- has real custard. 10 for real quality ingredients. 9 b/c a tad too much sugar/sweet.

assorted truffles

truffles were fantastic but packaging was terrible. Truffles were piled up without any decorative tissue. The girl who helped me had attitude. She was rude and I almost walked out. A shout out goes to the blondie for making my order miserable.

Princess cake, chocolate cake, raspberry mousse

Princess cake is by far my favorite (marzipan over cake, custard, raspberry layers), but the chocolate is super rich and not too sweet. Raspberry mousse is super rich but with good flavor, you can taste the cream and fat. Delicious!
