All this talk about finding the best taco interested a couple of the guys in doing a taco run. Jose, our local taco consultant was kind enough to lend his top secret spot for today's taste test. Unfortunately, we arrived at his spot and they were closed. I remembered Bronco's Mexican Food was a wish list item and a couple of blocks down the street.

We arrived at the corner taqueria and greeted with friendly people behind the counter. I think this restaurant also doubles as a bakery as I saw wedding cakes in the display case. Since I'm on taco detail, I order 4 different types of tacos.

If you've followed my taco reviews, this next paragraph is my blah blah blah what's in a soft taco. Tacos at Bronco's consist of 2 corn tortillas, onions, cilantro, and salsa. All for a low price of $1.35, add cheese and it's an additional 10 cents. Please, I beg you, don't put sour cream on your soft tacos.

carnitas (image 11) - least favorite of the meat, it was bland and barely had enough seasoning to it. The pork tasted a tad gamey as if they had hunted THAT morning. I'm surprised they messed up this meat, pork is 99.9% enjoyable. If their pork taste like this all the time, I would never order it.

carne asada (image 10) - very good, decent sized cuts of steak, cooked on a flat grill, great seasoning, served hot, easily a repeat order.

barbecoa (image 9) - shredded beef, favorite meat of the tacos, I wish more places would serve this, great marinade, not sure if this was bbq'd in the ground, tender meat, would taste wonderful in a burrito. Repeat order for sure.

tacos de papa (image 8) - deep fried taco filled with potatoes. The potato had heavy butter flavoring and of a mashed mixture. Fairly easy to make, place potato stuffing in 1 corn tortilla, deep fry it, remove, top with cheese and lettuce. It's an interesting item to order and worthy of a repeat order.

Broco's did a good job with their tacos. I would make a return visit if I was in the area. The prices are very respectable at $1.35 and meats were served very warm. The free chips and salsa were awesome. Parking is easy as well as finding the restaurant, it's across from Backesto Park.

To give you an idea on what the other's thought

Jose - loved his carne asada burrito

Ethan - disliked his carnitas nachos.

Chris - convinced his chicken tacos were the best he's had

What dish did you eat?

I had their huevos rancheros a couple of years ago and have never been back. Bad all the way around. Maybe I'll give 'em another shot.

Carne Asada Burrito

Visited one time for a carne asada burrito and was disappointed. For a moment, I thought I was biting into chicharrones burrito. The beef was crunchy and burrito a little greasy, but if the meat was good, I wouldn't have mind.
