I went to Coyoacan Cafe with one thing in mind, to try the beef fajitas. I was told to give it a try so here we are today. The place has a glass front providing an ample amount of natural lighting. Interior is painted a deep red with some beer decorations here and there. Jukebox is situated towards the back but today they had Michael Jackson playing from the kitchen.

While waiting for our food, the lady brought out some of the hot salsas and chips to feast on. Chips were served warmed but salsa was even hotter. I love spicy/hot food and this tingles in around the 7.5 range. We finished the chips and salsa pretty quick.

My beef fajita burrito arrived and it looked like a brick wrapped in a tortilla. Rice and beans were served on the sides which made me think, what the heck is inside....onions, bell peppers, tomatoes, guacamole, and beef. They had way too many bell peppers which overwhelmed everything in this burrito. I had to remove half of them. Beef was ok, a tad on the bland overcooked side. No grill marks which leads me to believe they probably cook on a flat grill. Overall, it was just ok and would look for something else on the grill.

Burritos are monsters over here and prices are fair. Our waitress was the best part of the lunch, service with a smile and very friendly. Coyoacan Cafe comes in around average and deserves another visit to try other items on the menu.

Coyoacan was a wishlist request. I am always happy to take down a Jatbar wishlist request. The list is still impossibly large and any chance we get to remove something makes me happy.

We arrive and the first thing that struck me (and caused me to take a Jatbar Phone Photo) was the peculiar appearance of a Veterinarian directly next door to the Restaurant. Just a weird juxtapositioning there.

We arrive and the inside is nice and friendly looking. Clean. The friendly waitress immediately took our drink orders and gave us time to look over the menus. I settled on the standard Super Veggie Burrito and munched on the chips and salsa while I waited.

The chips tasted completely standard. Nothing terribly exciting. The salsa nearly blew me apart. That is some of the hottest salsa I have tasted in a mexican restaurant. It was absolutely fantastic - only for the spiciness though. It wasn't particularly fantastic tasting, but I couldn't stop munching on the spicy salsa. Well done.

The burrito arrived fairly quickly (I enjoyed the service here) and this burrito was monstrous. I've had a lot of big burritos, but this is among the largest. It was accompanied on the plate by some lettuce and tomatos. Nothing too exciting. I started immediately tearing into it. The rice was a bit dry and just so-so tasting. Refried beans (good sign) but it was a bit dry as well. It wasn't too bad though. Otherwise, there was not much veggie in the veggie burrito. There was some guac, but otherwise nothing really stood out from this large dry burrito.

I would return if someone else was buying, but as it stands I find myself a bit underimpressed with everything here but the service and the salsa.
