I've been meaning to eat at Mitsuwa Marketplace for ages. There are always tons of people eating and have heard from our users that this is an reasonable place for affordable Japanese food. There's an excellent selection of bento boxes and comfort food. I can't possibly list all the foods but just check out the pictures.

I went with the pork cutlet curry. It takes about 5 minutes to get your order and the plate is fairly large. I think the pork was deep fried earlier and reheated. Since the dark brown gravy was smothered over the pork, it wasn't too crunchy. I kinda like half pork cutlet in the open with other half in sauce. Curry was mild and not sweet at all. I wish there were more potatoes or carrots in the dish. It's nothing like the stuff you order at Sushi Maru but for $5.75, it's a hard dish to pass up.

Japanese comfort food at very reasonable prices. If you want to beat the rush, swing by before 1140. Fridays are the worst, this place is packed.

Not interested in the hot plates, you can always visit for the junk food. You have to see all the cool rice snacks, mochi, milk candies, and my personal favorite, exotic Kit Kats. Americans get the shaft on the various Kit Kat flavors in the states. To give you an idea of the flavors I've had. What about banana, raspberry, lemon, and green tea Kit Kats?

If you aren't interested in the bento boxes or hot plate meals, you have to visit for the junk food.

A solid 7.5 - if I was @ Mitsuwa again, I would try their "cafe" food again. It was actually not too bad. The prices were cheap, and for the ramen combo (last picture) you get a lot for the money. I have had better ramen of course, but at this speed and price, its like McDonalds speed delivery and of course tastes better than fast food. Don't go here with high hopes or you will be disappointed, but if stop in before shopping for Japanese snack food you will be happy with the low cost, low fuss, and fast service.

I'm a huge fan of miyabi-tei, been grabbing a quick lunch or dinner here since high school. Grabbed my usual katsu curry here the other day and it never fails to satisfy. The katsu is thinly breaded, and only lightly pounded so it's not paper thin like many places, served on a large helping of rice then a ladle full of curry poured over. The pickle are actually my favorite part, not the usual bitter/salty variety these are crunch and sweet.

I'm sure this is not the 'best' japanese cuisine out there, but at what they charge, and what they deliver i see myself coming here for years to come.

I've been shopping and eating at Mitsuwa since I discovered it in 2002. It's been very reliable and has stayed pretty much the same since my first visit.

I stop by regularly for lunch, the office I work at is nearby, and I go there to buy junk food and sashimi.

The actual deli is seperate from the grocery store, most recently I had their udon. I don't remember what it was called, but it comes with an egg, and I ordered a piece of shrimp tempura to go in it as well.

For $5.50 I can't really complain about it. Simple udon noodles in a nice clear broth, the egg is a bit overcooked for my tastes, and I can sprinkle on whatever seasonings I prefer from their counter. The noodles are a bit soft, perhaps they have been sitting in the water for a while.

It's good and filling, a nice hot meal for lunch. It's nothing I couldn't make with my own instant udon and a frying pan, but I don't have to spend the effort making it or cleaning up =)

A very authentic rendition of the mediocre food found in the basement of a 2nd or 3rd rate Japanese department store. When in the right mood, a winner at a reasonable price, bentos etc to go make for a nice, easy picnic.
