We arrived at New Tandoori Cafe with lunchtime rush in full effect. The line was out the door with all the tables taken people eagerly waiting to place their orders. Same rule applies for most busy restaurants, arrive before 1145 or after 1PM and you'll be fine. By the time we got to the counter and ordered, a dirty table opened up, we cleaned, we sat. I gotta give bonus points for a restaurant that preaches tolerance and peace. There were a number of printed pieces of paper with positive pictures and quotes, kinda puts you in a good mood for a happy lunch.

Looking around the restaurant, pretty much everyone had wraps and thats what we ordered. I watched one of the kitchen guys take the dough, cook the naan, and mix the toppings. Fresh wraps for sure!

seekh kabob wrap (picture 9, 10) - For $4.99, this is a bargain. Their naan is excellent. Large serving of ground spicy lamb mixed with mint chutney, grilled onions, and heavy on the spices. It was an 7.5-8 on the heat scale but I loved the exotic spices that left a lingering burn with my mind questioning which flavorful spices they used. The lamb was on the leaner side, no gamey taste, no glistening shine but had a charred taste. I shared 1/2 with Mike in exchange for a half of his chicken sandwich. Repeat order is a must, it's good.

chicken sandwich (picture 7, 8) - $4.99 sandwich and one of the safer menu items if you don't want to try anything exotic. Sliced tandoori chicken breast with an eye appealing orange red ring around the meat. Instead of being rolled, it's naan folded in half mixed with mayo, lettuce, and red onions. Chicken was tender but could have been juicier. Spices saved the sandwich. I would order this again if the seekh kabob wasn't available.

dal (picture 6) - $2 bowl and lacked beans. The stew was spicy and of a greenish brown color. Watery than other dals I've had. Had an oil slick at the rim. I used quite a bit of it to top on my wrap/sandwich. Decent side dish.

Thanks to Mike for recommending New Tandoori Cafe. He also scored me a free drink coupon from their web site. Although New Tandoori Cafe is considered fast food type of service, their food is far and beyond what other $6 places can offer. New Tandoori Cafe is easily a return visit and hope to see them open one up near Burlingame.

Everything

This is a great tandoori restaurant, best in the area for tandoori wraps. Try the Cholay Bhature for the best 'baked beans and toast' in existance. A good alternative to when a buffet would cause too much over-eating.

Chicken Marsala, Lamb Curry, Garlic Naan

Chicken Marsala and Garlic Naan come with the yogurt sauce. They have a large menu, though I've never tried the wraps due to this being more of a dinner destination for me. That's probably the best value. It's fast and casual here, but no beer :( 8+
