Reunited with one of the best bay area Dorado tacos

My photo gallery 		I don't remember how we ended up at Tacos Autlense. I think Jose had been telling me about this old taqueria he used to frequent and when we drove up in the parking lot, I nearly shaaaat my pants. Could this be the same Tacos Autlense that was located in Mountain View? The waitress confirmed my suspicion and I immediately ordered Dorado tacos (hard shelled). Normally, the lazy way to serve hard shelled tacos is use pre-made shells and fill them with meats. Tacos Autlense will deep fry your shells to order and drop them on your plate with dripping oil. Hells yeah!!

I ordered 2 oily tacos with 2 different types of meats; carnitas and carne asada. I threw in a regular al pastor to help fill my belly.

The regular taco was decently good and wouldn't have any problems ordering again but the real winner is the hard shelled tacos. The meats weren't even that great but those damm crunchy shells are spectacular. A little greasy but what would you expect when these tortillas were just dropped into a bath of scalding oil.

I'm a sucker for deep fried taco shells and it's no surprise that my rating reflects one of my favorite mexican dishes. Jose enjoyed his tacos so if you're not into deep fried goodies, you'll be fine ordering regular carne asada tacos.

The Mountain View location closed almost 4 years and here I am being reunited with an old jatbar classic.
