I've come a long way with vegetarian food as I actually suggested Vegetarian House to Terry. It was a special day as Eddie was going to accompany us to which means profuse smack talking and my favorite part, watching Eddie eat food. It's a treat because he hates 95% of the restaurants out there and he ends up bitching the whole way back to work.

We arrived to the ice blue paradise and as we were walking out of the parking lot, I noticed this sign (picture #2), Supreme Master Ching Hai was going to present us with spiritually and healthy food. I've never heard of the lady and wondered if she was a famous chef.

The entrance leads to this juice bar, picture shrine, grand piano with scattered pamphlets on top, and fashion room? (picture 4) The only thing missing from this weird setup was the clown juggling 1 beagle, 1967 mustang gas cap, and a jar of honey. do dooo do dooo....

Still keeping this open mind of mine, we grab a table in the corner next to a podium of more free pamphlets of Supreme Master Ching Hai. I didn't open the little booklets but almost positive they weren't cooking books.

You should see the menus at Vegetarian House, they are as thick as bibles and they have pictures! Their menu rivals the cheesecake factory in terms of selection. They have dishes from all over the world. I had trouble making my decision but remembered seeing the vegan cheeseburger on the way in and Terry was more bold and ordered the vegan Rueben sandwich. Along with our orders was a plate of summer rolls.

summer rolls - spring rolls wrapped in rice wrapper, tucked with cilantro, diacon radish, and I think it was a faux shredded chicken. good stuff, I would order again. (picture 7)

vegan cheeseburger - I gotta say the cheese had me thrown off. I'm not sure how they got this cheese to taste like cheese without using milk. Topped with red onions, green leaf lettuce, tomato, wheat buns, and veggie pattie. Veggies tasted fresh and the patty looked super dry. Looks are deceiving because this veggie patty was moist. It wasn't a Boca burger and could not guess if they make it on premises. Not sure how they cooked it, maybe it was nuked? Toasted? no oil fry? Whatever they did, it worked. They need to served this as a double veggie patty offering as there was too much bun for the burger.

onion rings - tasted like deep fried onion rings without the lard. Heavy on the batter and little onion inside. just ok.

If you can get past the overflowing religious artifacts in every direction, Vegetarian House serves pretty good food. There food is on the salty side. When I got back to work, I must have drank 64 ounces of water and my mouth was still dry. Other than that, Vegetarian House has a huge selection of dishes for even the pickiest of eaters.

Guru's Curry, "cheesecake"

Very colorful place. It was a bit on the salty side, but surprisingly light and tasty. The vegan tofu cheese was very convincing. I'll be going back.
