I know its a bit odd reviewing Draegers market against restaurants but their deli and bakery are worth making a breakfast-lunch visit. There are 3 locations on the peninsula, Los Altos, Menlo Park, and San Mateo. Ive been to the San Mateo location and have to say its one of the nicest markets Ive ever been to. Everything is sooo damm nice, definitely catering to gourmet food lovers and hard to find foods. Its a food lovers paradise, I can spend my life trying everything out.

The bakery and deli case is to your left and its huge!!! They have so much damm food you are sure to find something for your stomach. I came here for a BLT sandwich on wheat and walked out with a stuffed potato and a Mad bar.

BLT - nice amount of bacon, tomatoes were fresh, green leaf lettuce, and I think the wheat bread was Orowheat (nothing special but it was toasted), and light mayo. Its a sandwich you can make at home but it was heavenly. Rates in at 8-8.5.

Stuffed potato - Never had a stuffed potato with a sandwich before, looks like I will returning for another one. Very respectable...rates in at 8.

Mad bar - graham crackers, chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, unsweetened butter, condensed milk, coconut, and walnuts flattened into a blissful experience. My new favorite dessert. Its a perfect 10!!!

Draegers has EVERYTHING...their food selection is 2nd to none. You WILL find food to please your stomach. Easily rates in at 9...it would be higher but gourmet food comes in at a price. Its true what they say, you pay for what you get and Im willing to pay the higher prices for quality food.

For the time that I lived in San Mateo (3.8 yrs) I must have gone to there, and I'm not kidding here, 300 times! Mostly my wife and I would hit Draegers for breakfast before we headed for work. I usually got a coffee and a poppy seed bear claw. Man I really miss that danish! Trust me you wont believe it till you have one. Get there early cuz they sell out on those almost everyday. Another good thing about this place is you can get lunch as well. My favorite is there BLT. I havent had a better one yet. They put a perfect amount of everything on this delicious sandwich. Oh I forgot to mention the salad bar here. It is by far the best my wife and I have had to date. Keep in mind that this is a gourmet deli / grocery store so be prepare to pay a bit more that usual. Trust me its worth every cent!

Mommy ate...

sandwiches

The wrapped up turkey sandwich was huge. Sadly it was all bread and that bread was stale. The meatballs in the meatball sub were not particularly tasty and my teen did not even finish it. They did carmelize onions for 1 of our subs and that was nice
