Jeffreys Hamburgers is a local favorite for the people of San Mateo. Located off B street in downtown San Mateo, Jeffreys is a 50's style diner offering excellent burgers at reasonable prices.

I ordered a cheeseburger and onion rings with a drink. I think it came out to $8-9? Thats only about $3 more than you would pay for your burger meal at some drive through. With lean ground beef, Jeffreys is able to sustain a flavorful taste. Your burger is served with a bun and pattie with the fixin bar to create the burger of your choice. I topped mine off with red onions, lettuce, tomatoes, ketchup, and mustard. Damm that was good. I cant think of a better burger in San Mateo.

Onion rings were excellent and rate higher than the fries. Shakes look even better but didnt have room in my stomach...maybe next time :)

Jeffreys Hamburgers is a favorite of mine whenever I get the burger urge. Support a local restaurant and enjoy the meal.

Jeffreys Hamburgers makes a perfect burger!

I been to this place over a dozen times and have never had a bad burger. The place has an old school 50s burger shop theme and if very child friendly. There is plenty of seating inside and a small patio in the back to chill out.

My favorite is the pineapple teriyaki burger. The meat they use in this place it top notch and you can taste it in every bit. My wife loves there field green salad with chicken and strawberries, hmmmm. You should not forget to order a fresh banana shake as well. All that and you have a meal that will keep you rubbing your tummy with delight. Solid 9.

Very overpriced. It is average tasting food which is usually deep fried. It is worth going for the comfort food and the milkshakes. The service is excellent and the atmosphere is very family friendly. Super clean and very convenient if your going to the movies. Parking is ample at the train station a block away. This place is an institution in San Mateo.

Yum! I was looking forward to finally visiting this place and I'm happy to report that it didn't disappoint. I got garlic fries, a mushroom burger, and my dining partner got a double cheeseburger. The meat was SO juicy and delish! The flavor was so good and it tasted like real good meat. It wasn't dry and flavorless at all. And the fries had a good crispness to them, but they weren't perfect. Worth ordering, though. And I loved the condiment and toppings bar in the back. The place is clean, friendly, and totally worth the quality. I'd even say it was better than In N Out! (I know I'll get crap for that comment.) If you're in the Peninsula and want a burger, this place is tough to beat.

Bacon Cheeseburger, Fries

Best burger in San Mateo, and a regular work lunch of mine. Tastes great, not too greasy, not "supersized" like a lot of chain restaurant burgers. Good root beer floats. Fries are not a style I'm especially fond of, though. Often busy at

Cheeseburger and fries

I used to go there once or twice a week when it was run by the original owners. Now I go there once or twice a year. I feel the burgers are different and the fries definitely are. I preferred the original fries.

Fish and Chips w/Chili Cheese Fries

I go here quite a bit as the wife worked at a dot com kitty corner from here when Serge first opened back in the day. I'll say that everything they serve is high quality. Imo they're the next best thing to Burgermeister in the city.
