Kaimuki Grill has fine fish but service is almost unacceptable. They were quite busy but why seat us down if you're not going to offer menus or drinks for 10 minutes. We had to grab a togo menu just to see what we were going to order. The only reason we were flagged a waitress was the sushi chef...if it wasnt for him, we probaby would have sat for another 5 more mins. Rule of restaurants...

- Should be greeted at front door within 2 minutes
- Upon seating down, waiter or host should ask or tell you they will be getting your drinks...5 mins max
- Ordering your food within 5 mins after being served your water
- Delivering your food within 10-15 mins (fancy restaurants do not apply)
- During the eating of your food, drinks should always be filled or ask you how your meal is or ask if you want something else
- Check should be delivered to your table when asked

Kaimuki Grill failed all of these basic serving skills. They only excuse is possibly the waiter was new??? Who knows...only good thing that came out of this entire dinner was the Hamachi and CA rolls. The yellowtail was excellent with a nice garnish of green onions...very tasty indeed. Spider rolls were ok, I tend to enjoy soft cell crabs with some crab spread. White tuna was ok, no fish smell or taste to it. Rolls werent rolled that tight and presentation was so-so...my food didn't look like art.

Food was an 8 but service was miserable. (The only exception to the service was the sushi chefs...they were awesome and able to make the rolls in a short amount of time) . Kaimuki Grill would rate easily at an 8 but if there service is this bad all the time, they deserve a 6 overall. Final rating is a 7.

Foodvacuum ate...

Ramen and California rolls.

I come here when The Ramen Club in Burlingame is closed. Although the food is good, I do remember leaving once, before even ordering, because the service was so bad.
