I'm kinda new to the whole 37th avenue thing and 3 months ago, I had no idea this area existed. It's going to take me a couple of months to review the whole street but I will get the job done. For tonight's visit, I hit up Lil' Biscuit House.

Having heard it was a spot for home cookin', I was looking forward to eating this rare american cuisine. I was greeted by a friendly waitress and she quickly made me feel at home. I'm dying of hunger and didn't waste any time ordering.

mac n cheese - the waitress said it was the best mac n cheese served in the area and I agree. I never would have thought mac n cheese could taste this good. All those years of boxed kraft has tainted my palate. Lil Biscuit House serves shell pasta with REAL cheese. Creamy and tasty and oh so bad for you. It's a must order.

green beans - firm green beans, oiled and salted, fresh and not the canned stuff.

biscuits - 2 served in a basket with honey bear and butter, warm, probably made in-house that day, it doesn't get any fresher than this. Browning on the outside, moist in the center, placing honey in the center makes it a 9.

fried chicken - a 2 piece combo will cost $9 and the 3 piece at $11. I opted for the 3 and received a thigh, drumstick, and breast. A lot of food for 1 sitting. Just eyeing the fried chicken I could tell it was overcooked. Some of the edges were almost a black color. Batter wasn't too heavy but super crunchy. Had a burnt flavor and probably would have come out perfect with lower temperature oil and 1-2 minutes less in the fryer. Meat was juicy and I suspect it was drenched in buttermilk. Seasoned with salt and pepper, it was a near perfect mix.

We get a lot of foreign tourists visiting jatbar for food advice and if it's your 1st time in America and want to experience a midwest and southern Amercan cuisine or maybe you miss grandmother's home cookin', I would recommend visiting Lil Biscuit House. Go for the fried chicken or chicken fried steak. Service was friendly and prices were right. I know I'm coming back as the menu has tons of items to my liking.
