If you've driven along El Camino Real in San Mateo at night, you have probably seen the lines at Yumi Yogurt. Its the norm as this place is adored by locals and people from neighboring cities. Im never a fan of long lines and dont believe I waited in this line but I was in dire need of something sweet. Its been ages since my last visit and from what I remember Yumi Yogurt brings serving size to the next level.

The line moved somewhat smoothly as it only took 15 minutes to get to the front. They have 5 sizes and I keep forgetting to get the childs size. I mistakenly got the petite size and nearly laughed as the girl behind the counter made what looked like the tower of yogurt. It was stacked 4x times the height of the container, monster serving (picture #6) !!! I have a bad habit of always ordering pistachio, call it an addiction but I love it. I wanted to order hot fudge but I was denied. I think you're suppose to tell them before the pour as it comes out while they mix the flavoring and yogurt. No biggie, I topped it off with crunchy almonds. For $3.75, its a big serving that could be shared with another person.

The yogurt was smooth like gelato and had swirls of green pistachio flavoring. The almonds were fresh like they had been cut that day. The sweet creation was a natural high for me, frozen crack maybe? Who knows, I dont have any withdrawals yet.

I honestly tried hard to finish it but my stomach was at full capacity. I was going to explode and had planned on going to the gym later that night. No luck, I got home and past out on my floor...I had overdosed on Yumi Yogurt. Im waving the white flag for now but I'll be back, next time I'll order the child size.

After a dinner at Thai Satay, I took my friends and family out for ice cream at Yumi Yogurt. It's located in a very desolate area where there aren't any other visible shops around. However, once you park, you have to walk through a short path along their little rose garden. It was absolutely gorgeous despite the fact that the location was a little dingy.

One thing for sure, a child size/one scoop yogurt or ice cream is ENOUGH. I made the mistake of ordering a double scoop for my little cousin. Once I saw how big the scoops were, I ended up ordering a child size for myself. My poor cousin couldn't even finish the last 3/4 of her strawberry ice cream.

I'm giving this place a 9 for its unusual location, the rose garden, and the strawberry ice cream. It had REAL pieces of strawberries and it didn't taste artificial. It had a really fruity, light, pure flavor that is somewhat close to the strawberry gelato I had in Italy a couple years back. As for their yogurt, my sister was gushing at how awesome it was. I didn't even get a bite. She's a real healthnut/exercise fiend (at 15 y/o), so seeing her inhale that yogurt must mean that it was really good.
