It's a good thing Terry convinced me to turn the jat mobile around for Copenhagen Crown, I was positive it was the same bakery/deli in Burlingame but I am wrong. Judging from the shopping center, I'd guesstimate 30+ years? I'm not sure what to order so I ordered their crown jewel, some sandwich called the Crown Club on wheat bread. I also picked up a raspberry cookie, coconut cookie, and a white cookie called the Mexican Wedding. For 2 sandwiches, 2 drinks, and many desserts, I spent $16.

With sandwiches in hand, it's time to eat. Most club sandwiches I've had normally come as a double decker sandwich. The Crown Club (pictures 8 and 9)

bread - homemade wheat? very good

meats - ham tasted like a black forest ham and turkey was real stuff, sliced from a breast. It's not that weak watery stuff you pick up in packets. Bacon was extra crunch and you'd get some in every bite.

cheese - cheddar, good

veggies - tomatoes, pepperchinis, romaine, pickles (yuck). All the veggies were fresh and of good quality.

The sandwich was much better than what you would get at your chain sandwich shop. Quality ingredients and light mayo/mustard made the sandwich even more enjoyable.

My cookies were just ok. My coconut cookie didn't taste the freshest and on the chewier side. Raspberry shortcake was super good and Mexican Wedding was tolerable.

Overall experience was good. I think the portion size of sandwiches were excellent and use of fresh veggies made the sandwich more worthwhile. Cookies on the otherhand were average and would have to try a fresh morning batch for a full effect. I'd give my sandwich an 8 with the cookies near a 7, averaging to a 7.5. If your in the area, give Copenhagen Crown a try. It's a nice quiet bakery deli where you can enjoy a pleasant meal.

Copenhagen Bakery was a wishlist request. Particularly recommended for the good sweets and the deli. We arrive and the place looks kind of run down. The exterior and interior were a bit long in the tooth. This doesn't matter if the food is good. Besides, the place was clean, and that is definitely more important in my book.

I place my order for a sandwich. The pickings were slim for me. So I went with the tuna salad on wheat. The sandwich arrived quickly and looked good, if a bit small. The tuna salad mixture was tasty, the vegetables were a nice touch, even the pickles. Bread was ok. I finished it quickly. I would rate the sandwich itself a 7.5.

I then sampled the desserts. I went with a cream eclair, and a part of a cookie. Nothing in the display looked terribly irresistible to me. Looked like it had been sitting out for a few hours. Cookie was equally so-so. I look forward to tasting a cake or freshly baked good from here to (hopefully) adjust my score upwards. As it was, the place was solid, but not inspiring.

I use to work in the area and would make evening stops on my way home to Copenhagen Crown.

The owners, I believe a Persian family, are always very nice. I talked to the gentleman often and found out he's a graduate of the CA Culinary Academy in SF. Oh, the shared love of food and Culinary Creations is a wonderful topic indeed!

I would usually pick up small individual desserts and/or their homemade croissants. I didn't buying their cookies, as by evening time, they were pretty wiped out.

The small desserts were often impressive, and priced right. This isn't a super fancy place, (not like my favorite all time - La Patisserie) but more of an old fashioned bakery with great classic products, priced right.

My real rating comes from their croissants. A bag of 12 mini croissants for $3 and they are divine. Fresh, buttery, flavorful, moist. I also really enjoyed their eclairs and napoleons.

Great place to check out if in the area. This is the kind of place that as a kid, you'd drool at, just thinking of a visit. They remind me a lot of Wilson's Jewel Bakery in Santa Clara, but priced better.
