We swung the car hard to make it over to Kabab Korner. We saw buffet and word Kabab and immediately thought kabab buffet? No way...unreal...could this be true? Only one way to find out is to park in the back and investigate. Walking through the parking lot, looks like a tornado hit the dumpster area (picture #2). Somebody needs to clean that crap up.

Looks like we missed the lunch rush as only 3-4 tables appeared to be occupied. We saw the stainless steel chafing dishes and proceeded to attack. Talk about the food whores that we are, we didn't even grab a table first. The 1st thing I grabbed was a plate. After rummaging through the dishes, where the heck are the kababs? I looked on the menu and the kebabs need to be ordered separately. Oh well, looks like we're going to be eating Indian food. I made 2 trips and 1 dessert run.

rice - ok, on the dry side but if you add the dal, you'll be fine.

saag paneer - very good, even popeye would give his nod of approval

dal - if you look at picture #9, you can tell I love the stuff, I was mixing it with everything. super good stuff.

chicken curry - some of the best stuff I've had, very spicy and pieces of meat were fairly large. definite repeat visit.

tandoori chicken - I guess I've killed this item, I've eaten it so much that I think I'm getting bored with it, I'm not faulting Kabab Korner, it doesn't do it for me anymore.

aloo catles - I'm taking a wild guess this is the spicy crazy potatoes? if you want to clear your sinuses, this is the dish to eat.

rice kheer - dessert, I thought it was heavy on rose water but Terry thought moreso orange rinds, either way both of us agreed we liked it. Served slightly chilled and sweet.

naan - it was like eating mini pizza crusts, served hot to the table, very good.

We lucked out at Kabab Korner and the buffet was of great value. Anytime you can get quality food at a buffet for $9, I think its quite the bargain especially coming from 2 guys who love to eat food. Many thanks to Kabab Korner for filling my belly.

It was a standard lunchtime. Jason was in the mood for Kababs, so we were driving down El Camino towards a place he wanted to try out and sure enough it was closed on Mondays. We started heading back, perhaps we could hit a Chinese place cold. . . . .
Then we spot Kabab Korner. Big sign right on El Camino. Perfect. We park in the back and walk towards the door. We walk past the nastiest, smelliest dumpster you have ever seen. Garbage strewn across parking lot. It started to feel like we were about to 'take one for Jatbar'.
We walk inside and the place is quite clean and neat looking. The lady behind the counter asks if we are here for the buffet. Sure, I suppose so. We walk over to the pile of plates and grab one. There are a few trays. Nothing huge as you would find at Grand Indian Buffet but as long as the place delivers, it shouldn't matter.
I grab a plate of food and sit down. I wasn't particularly hungry today but I couldn't pass up these good-looking items in the trays. I recently came off a bad experience at Shalimar, so was hoping this place would deliver. I sampled all of the veggie items (which they thankfully had a good selection of) as you see in picture 8. The potatoes in the pic were my favorite. They were SPICY. Like Empress of India spicy. GOOD stuff. The onion pakora was not as appealing, tho it usually isn't a favorite of mine in general. The basmati was by the numbers. Not the best, but not bad either. The Dahl was pretty good, better than I had in Shalimar the other day. And the spinach paneer was excellent, though in my book its hard to screw that up. Overall I was very pleased with the items here. Then they naan was brought to the table. Basically it was like a great pizza dough. Thick and buttery - some of the best I have ever had. Above and beyond anything you should expect at a buffet. I could have eaten a whole basket of it myself.
If they offered more buffet selections, I am starting to think the score might even go up. Amazing, yeah I know. (I am not the biggest Indian cuisine fan).
For dessert I went with the coconut rice thing (sorry I forget its name) - thankfully it was low on the rose flavoring and high on the orange flavor. Just how I like it. In fact I went for another pass at this afterwards. Such a pig! But great stuff! Just how it should be done. And all of this food came out to $18 for both of us. Hard to beat, after getting raped at Shalimar for lesser quality food.
Even though Kabab Korner misled us with the false advertising of Kabab (can you imagine a Kabab buffet? oh man!) they more than redeemed themselves with a clean establishment and fastidious waitstaff. There is no doubt that I will return when in the mood for good quality Indian cuisine.
