Its hard to go wrong with ice cream after or before any meal. I think Real Ice Cream was the main reason for stopping at Fisherman's House. The place is kinda hard to see from the street because its right behind Fisherman's House. I was excited to see the ice cream was made on the premises. Home made ice cream normally tastes different than other ice cream places. They make the frozen dessert more creamy, less sugary, and offer exotic flavors. Real Ice Cream offered flavors from India like Saffron Pistachio, Sapota, Rose Kulfi, and numerous others.

I already tried something exotic for lunch, I might as well continue with something unusual like Sapota flavor. Sapota is a large fruit almost similar to a giant grapefruit in size. Im not very good at describing new flavors, but I would guess pumpkin color/texture/taste with somewhat of a nutty hint to it? Think tropical....I enjoyed it so much, that if I made a return visit, I would probably choose the Sapota over my favorite flavor of pistachio.

The texture of the ice cream wasnt the smoothest and not sure if it had anything to do with the fruit. There were bits of grit and strands of fruit in the ice cream. I still liked it.

***2nd Visit***

Dont ask why we made another visit the following day, its ice cream...you cant go wrong. I wanted to try more of the traditional flavors today and went with marble butterscotch and chocolate chip. Ok, so I was talking about the texture in the previous visit not being creamy, well, todays scoops were indeed smooth and creamy. So good, Im getting ice cream headache just thinking about it. We all scream for Real Ice Cream.

Bottom line: Real Ice Cream is ABSOLUTELY GREAT.

If you like ice cream at all, and live or work in the area, you owe it to yourself to stop by once at least. Do not be concerned if you are not into Indian spices, as they offer plenty of ice cream that is of the traditional types like bubble gum, cookie dough, vanilla, etc.

On the two consecutive days I went here, I ordered the pineapple-coconut ice cream. This has to be the best ice cream I have experienced outside of Fentons in the Bay Area. Its hands down better than any ice cream you can get at the grocery store, including Haagen Dasz. The texture is smooth and VERY creamy. A true indulgence and worth every penny. 2 scoops come in at $3.75 and totally worth it - you get a LOT of ice cream.

If you are at all interested in indian flavors, you will REALLY enjoy the treats they offer in specialized flavors. And if you are unsure, free tastes are supplied so give it a shot. And for those who are interested to know (Manish), no eggs are used in the ice cream here.

If you like coconut like I do, you MUST try the coconut and pineapple it is absolutely out of this world. I am dreaming about it still. The vanilla (my benchmark flavor) was better than nearly every vanilla I have had, but the clincher for me has to be the coconut-pineapple. And at the bargain prices (with kids scoops even) you cannot find a better ice cream value in the bay area.
