The last time I ate Mongolian BBQ was back in Budapest over 5 years ago. Im long overdue and luckily for us, a jatbar user submitted Sus Mongolian Barbecue through the wish list page. Located in Santa Clara off El Camino Real, this restaurant offers all you can eat Mongolian style BBQ. All you can eat means a lot of people willing to wait through the buffet lines. Parking might be hard to find in the front so its best to park on the side street. If you get lost in the streets, just follow the barbecue smell, its overwhelming.

The line was quite large when we were there, about 10 minutes from start to finish but its well worth the wait. If you are new to this style buffet, its best to grab 2 bowls. One for the frozen meat and the other for your veggies. On my 1st run, I loaded up on beef, chicken, noodles, sprouts, broccoli, carrots, celery, garlic, onions, oyster sauce, chili oil, chili sauce, and sesame seeds. Sounds like a lot of stuff to be loading in your bowls but the stuff shrinks when cooked over the flat grill. You hand over the bowls to the cooks and they just toss your bowls over the grill and use these weird wooden sword-like giant chopsticks constantly stirring?? That probably didnt make any sense, you will just have to see it for yourself. (Picture #3)

The bowl was very good but dont be surprised if you get other toppings that werent in your bowl originally. It is a shared grill :) Depending on how your mix is, you only have yourself to blame if you dont like it. Not enough veggies, walk up to the buffet line and put more veggies. Pretty easy solution...its a win-win situation.

At the very beginning of the buffet line is cooked chinese food. I had a small bowl of chow mein and chicken. I would say skip this part and concentrate on the Mongolian style barbecue, it is all you can eat.

Be sure to make a visit to Sus Mongolian Barbecue if you want to try something new and mill through buffet lines disneyland style. Pick what you enjoy and most likely, you will enjoy what they cook for you.

We went to Su's based on a wishlist request and while I had been to a Mongolian restaurant many years ago, its been awhile. Four of us from work went together and neither of us had ever been to Su's. We followed the people ahead of us and picked up 2 bowls, 1 for the meat and the other for the vegetables. I decided to go with meat today (beef) and loaded up on a variety of vegetables and sauces. I stood in line (the line moves VERY slow) and had the guys cook my food on the flat grill. The problem with this is that the guys all move in a circle and use the same surface. So while you could get non-meat items here, you will be sharing the juices from all the people ahead of you. Also if you don't like spicy food, make sure you are not in line behind somebody that REALLY does as the spicy juices will carry over to the next person. Those guys are moving food around the grill quickly.

Anyway I got my food and it was very hot and quite tasty. Su's has a much better selection of ingredients than the few other places I had been in the past.

The cost for the buffet (you can go up unlimited number of times) was $8. Included in the price was a few (4-5 items) of chinese food as well. The chinese food is VERY greasy however so consider yourself warned. It did taste fresh though.

Su's is worth a visit, seems like a legit Mongolian place with something for everyone. Save your appetite for the barbeque and skip the chinese food.

I'm a big fan of Mongolian Barbecue. I was very excited today to try a new place, and Su's Mongolian Barbecue pretty much lived up to my hopes for it.

I'm somewhat of a picky eater, so any place that allows me to have complete control over what goes on my plate is great. The restaurant seems to be too small to contain all the people filling their bowls with raw food, but somehow, there was always a table for anyone coming off the line. Su's had a good selection of meats and lots of vegetables. They also had great sauces. The line was well stocked, fresh, and contained almost everything you could want for lunch. My only complaint was they didn't have any pineapple - that's one of my favorite things to put in my bowl at Mongolian BBQ.

The best part is always watching your food get cooked. Also, they had a buffet of cooked items - steamed rice and seasame bread, etc. I was very full and happy when I left there this afternoon. I will definitely be returning to Su's.

BBQ

I love coming in and eating here. I use plenty of sauces and can make my plate as spicy as I like. Making your own creation makes this a incredibly fun experience. One of best values around.

Dinner

The meat is a bit fatty but when you get to add the flavor to your own bowl it comes out good almost every time. When you perfect your dish 2nd time round it's even better. 8.0
