We arrived at Crepe Danielle during lunch and went in for the a eurostyle dining. There werent too many people inside but the atmosphere was relaxing with little noise. It was quiet enough to sit down and just read a book. I browsed the menu and ordered ham and cheese croissant.

Like most of the sit down restaurants, we are normally presented with ok bread. I might take 1 slice and leave the rest. For Crepe Danielle, we finished the entire loaf. It was good bread, not as good as the buttery stuff you get in France but it was enjoyable.

Following the bread was the split pea soup with a decorative white swirl on the top. It looked nice but found the taste to be somewhat of a letdown. There was no texture to the soup and reminded me of something you can get out of a can. Im not the expert at pea soup but I do know what I like.

Ahh...the sandwich, its a 7 on the jason taste scale. The croissant was toasted but lacked the lovely butter taste I am obsessed with. Ham was regular stuff you can get at the market. Cheese was ok, other toppings were ok. Nothing too special about this and probably wouldnt order it again.

Should have got the crepe? Well, I did and this is what saves Crepe Danielle. I ordered the crepe with vanilla ice cream and fudge. I wasnt planning on eating the entire dessert so luckily the waitress was able to split it on 2 plates. Theres just something about 2 guys sharing dessert on 1 plate...buurrrrppp. Super good dessert and a repeat order.

If you are not in a hurry, Crepe Danielle wont let you down. They are true believers of euro-style dining with our lunch running around the hour mark. Way too long and had to speed back to work. Prices are kinda high but crepe places are hard to encounter in the South Bay. I need to come back and try one of their signature crepe dishes.

I will be honest - its really hard for me to get excited about French food in general. Its gotta be darn good. Gregoire in Berkeley is probably my best experience and well that was quite an experience (as Jatbar Berkeley Runs tend to be).

Back to Crepe Danielle. Jason suggested it based on an email or wishlist request. I was not over-the-top-hungry so it sounded like a good idea. My experience with French food (aside from a bit overpriced) is that its slow-to-arrive and small in portion-size.

We arrive and its a bit of an old place, which does not bother me as it looks clean and well taken care of. The room is nearly empty (maybe 3 other tables are filled). We are seated at a table beside the loudest man in history. Heres a dude talking about trade company secrets in the loudest most obnoxious voice possible. Jason and I learned a lot about proprietary video codec technology while waiting for our meal.

The menus was small but had something for everyone. The crepe selection was nice. Both as a dessert and as a meal. There must be 20-30 crepe lunch selections, with something for vegetarians, meat eaters of all types, and seafood selections.

I went for one of the more expensive crepe meals - the shrimp. At $8 it was not cheap. I also turned it into a meal which included soup and bread. The crepe also could be had as white, wheat, or buckwheat. I chose wheat.

The soup arrived first and seemed like some kind of pea soup with sour cream across the top. It was quite tasty actually. A small load of bread was brought out to munch on as well. It was not the best french bread I have had, but was tasty enough and Jason and I managed to finish it.

My crepe arrived and it was positively large. Instantly I was struck that this is the French burrito. It had a clam chowder kind of filling and a slightly sweet tortilla shell type of thing. Overall it was quite tasty. Not my first choice for lunch but was a pretty decent french meal. I was definitely full. My big complaint holding it from an 8.0 was the $11 I paid for it.

Since Jason had a sandwich, he really wanted to try a crepe (and I could not blame him) so we went in together for a crepe dessert. They split it up for us on different plates. Nothing like Jatbar sharing a dessert from the same plate. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Just not our style.

Anyway, the huge (what you see in the pic is Jasons half of it) crepe was really tasty. I would return for that. The chocolate tasted high quality but the ice cream inside was just so-so. The crepe itself was the highlight.

I would not mind returning to try a sandwich next time. And definitely going in on a dessert.
