After driving aimlessly for miles and miles we stumbled upon the Afghani House. Located off of El Camino in Sunnyvale. Never heard of this place before what a perfect reason to try it.

Lunch starts from 11:30-2PM. We entered the restaurant and immediately thought this was going to be an expensive lunch. Place was decorated in Afghan decor, tables had real linen table clothes, folded napkins, and 2 sets of forks.

I ordered the beef kabab ($13) which came with salad. Nothing too special with the salad, just standard lettuce mix with thousand island dressing. The kabab plate was 1 skewer, bread, and seasoned brown rice. The beef was probably a sirloin as it wasn't as tender as filet mignon. Rice was awesome...bread was cold, probably would have tasted better for if it was warmed up.

Afghani House serves good food but $35 for 2 is a bit too steep for me.

As with most Afghani food, this didn't blow me away with great exciting flavor. It was definitely above-average on the taste-meter, though. The presentation was very good, though the price was quite high. I ordered the Vegetarian Platter which included 3 vegetarian entrees with white rice and bread. It definitely filled me up. The eggplant-based entree was VERY tasty. The spinach was just OK. The yam/squash entrees was sweet and a nice finisher to the meal. At $14 it was moer than I wanted to pay for lunch, but I was filled up. Will I return again? I could. Maybe next time, however, I may want to explore a cuisine that has a bit more exciting flavors. . . .
