This is my 2nd visit to Daddy Dough Bakeshoppe and finally got around to doing my review. On my 1st visit, I took home a roll of hopia. Hopia can be described as a Filipino bean pastry. There are a couple of versions out there and the one I normally get is the flakey pastry type with either red beans or purple yam (Ube).

To be honest, I don't even remember if it was red bean or Ube. The hopia was dense and did not have the delicate flakey layers I enjoy. It seemed very dry. Not sure if I would order again.

2nd visit, I order 2 different items.

pork adobo pan de sal - I was reluctant to try this one as adobo can taste completely different from whoever makes it. Adobo is meat (pork or chicken) marinated in vinegar seasoned with pepper, soy sauce, and other goodies. Place this mixture into a roll and you basically have a meat sandwich. It sounds appealing and I even nuked it but the gelled texture of the minced pork didn't sit too well in my mouth. Too sweet and ittie-bittie meat pieces left we wondering if I really need to finish it. No repeat order for me.

chicken empanada ($1.25) - by far the easiest thing to eat. It's basically a pastry filled with meat. I think it had peas, onions, carrots, and seasoned shredded chicken. I can eat this for morning, lunch, and dinner.
I didn't even warm it up and ate it quickly. Easy repeat order.

I also tried the Bicho Bicho and that was very good. It's like a sugary donut.

There's lot of different baked goods to choose from at Daddy Dough Bakeshoppe and I've sampled only a tiny fraction of what they have to offer. Out of the 4 items, I only liked half. I've been to lots of Filipino bakeries and would rate it about average.

We arrived here after a lunch at Barn Thai. A little dessert, and mark another place off the list in this complex. Usually I am not fond of filipino food in general, but bakeries can be another story. There was not a HUGE selection here, but a decent amount, with some unique items. My eyes caught the Bicho Bicho, which is basically a skinny Portuguese Malasada (I'm sure its similar to a lot of stuff in a lot of cultures, but I grew up with the Malasadas).

I thought it to be cold, but still pretty fresh tasting. The dough was squishy and fluffy, the sugar was copious, not too greasy - and best of all, 3 for $1.00. Hard to beat that.

Next time I am here for lunch at any of the MANY restaurants in the complex, I'll be sure to stop by here for an order of Bicho Bicho to go!
