De La Cruz Deli is HUGE. This is the largest sandwich shop Ive ever seen. It looks like a converted office building turned deli bar grill wifi pool hall cafeteria school bus olympic sized swimming pool football field airport landing strip.....you get the point. Their web site says several locations in the bay area but the Sunnyvale location was the closest to us. I doubt you would find this place just driving around Sunnyvale, its hidden in a business park.

I almost went with a burger but decided on the pastrami as there were many signs pointing to it. Pastrami on sweet roll with provalone. Deli style pastrami with the normal toppings like lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and mayo. She nuked part of my sandwich, bread, cheese, and pastrami. Suprisingly the sandwich came out moist. The sandwich filled me up and did its job.

Overall, the De La Cruz Deli is your average business park type of sandwich. Its definitely better than Togos but I wouldnt drive out of your way to eat here. If you work closeby, its a good alternative to the sandwich chains out there. Im not sure what the evenings or weekends are like but looking at the bar and pool hall, Im sure its great entertainment when you mix over-worked computer nerds and booze.

De La Cruz Deli has a gorgeous website. This is one of the best-designed deli websites. The photo on the main page with the roast beef piled on high tempted me to stop by and grab a sandwich or two.

I stopped by work this morning to sign my acceptance papers for a full time gig and on my way back home, I take a detour for some sandwiches at De La Cruz Deli. I arrive around 10 am and the place is of course empty. The hours are from 7am till 3pm to accommodate the breakfast and lunch crowd.

I order a hot roast beef on Dutch crunch roll with mustard and veggies and a tuna salad on onion roll with mustard and veggies. The woman remembers my order and prepares my sandwiches. She asks I want onions and pickles on my sandwiches and I only opt for the onions. Later she asks if I want a pepper and a whole pickle included with my sandwiches and I decline. Service here is fast and friendly. Sandwiches come out to be a little over 12 dollars.

My sandwiches do not look as delectable as the photo shown on the website.

Tuna Salad: Onion roll tasted a little stale. They definitely do not bake the bread fresh as they grab it from a prepackaged bag. Plenty of tuna and just the right amount of lettuce, sliced onions, and two slice of tomatoes. I dislike when there are more veggies than meat and De La Cruz Deli does a good job in making sure there is more meat or a good balance. The tuna tasted like canned tuna, as there were still chunks of tuna unmixed. I also found little bits of hard-boiled egg whites in my tuna salad sandwich. I do not recall tuna salad ever having pieces of egg whites. (7/10)

Roast Beef: Dutch crunch roll is a disappointment as the crunch part was completely soft and the bread felt soft and stale. Roast beef did not taste fresh as it tasted dry and lacked any flavor. The only flavor and taste saving the sandwich from a complete bomb is the mustard. The sandwich was not hot and the roast beef tasted barely warm. Sandwich was completely uninspiring and needs the extra pickles, peppers, salt and pepper, and condiments to boost up the flavor and appeal. (5.5/10)

De La Cruz Deli is among various complexes and definitely not somewhere, one would know about unless working near the area. The building must have been transformed to a deli, as the place is very large and can accommodate a large lunchtime crowd. Service is friendly, they offer a wide variety of items but the prices are higher than your neighborhood Togos or Subway and taste below par from the sandwiches that I have tried. I probably will not go out of my way to eat here but may stop by if in the area.

Pluses: Wide selection of menu items, large facility with patio seating and indoor seating, game room, friendly service, accepts credit cards but require a $10 minimum purchase.

Minuses: Uninspiring sandwiches, roast beef lacked any kind of taste, pricey items.
Based on the sandwiches alone, as take out, I would rate this 6/10 but if I hanged out there and maybe played some pool or spent my money on other treats, I would rate this a 6.5/10 to 7/10 just based on the variety of items this place offers.
