I was hoping Grand Indian Buffet would live up to my Sneha expectations. It's been a long time since eaten here and was glad to see some decorative improvements. For one, the ceiling has been upgraded with painted tiles and much better lighting. The walls appeared to be painted a lighter shade. Things were looking good.
As usual, this place is packed. The buffet line looked like a disneyland ride but not to worry the line moves fast. The entres looked identical to Sneha and even better yet was the taste. I won't go down the list of all the items but let's just say I had 2 good sized plates cleaned to a shine. The Palak Paneer is dangerously good, I poured it on my naan, rice, chicken, shirt pocket, gas tank, cdrom drive, it just works!!!
Prices are the same ($9/plate) and service was good as always. Grand Indian Buffet keeps up the Sneha flavor and gets my nod for great tasting Indian food.

I am happy to report that Grand Indian Buffet is every bit as good as Sneha was. Highlights include the Nahn bread (which they offer in huge quantities in the buffet), the yellow rice, and the green sauce. The mango ice cream makes a nice finisher as well. (and I am not a big mango fan either). If I was to have a qualm it would be that they try to pack too many tables into the place and it can be quite hard to move around between the tables when making the multiple trips to the buffet line.

Just thinking about this place gets my drooling mechanism working. Naan, curry, naan, curry... what a perfect combination.
My best friend suggested that me and my other friend go to Grand Indian Buffet since she's been there once before (plus she's an Indian food fanatic). We arrived near noon and it was bustling. I infer from the looks of customers that they were workers from nearby companies.
We were promptly seated and I was surprised that almost every table had its own pitcher of water. Smart move! The three of us headed over to the buffet line and behold! TWO rows of Indian goodness. Here are some of my favorite items (not too sure about its names):
Naan: Can't go wrong with naan. It went well with everything
Chicken tikka: It was the red colored chicken. Very flavorful and was a harmony with the rice
Rice: I preferred the plain white rice over the fruity one they had. With the amount of flavors in their curries, I needed something plain to sooth the spiciness.
Chicken Masala: The reddish, creamish thing with the chicken. Heaven is truly a place on earth. I had two bowls of this thing with naan. This is the one dish that got me hooked, and I'd come back and back and back again for it.
Mango ice cream: It's a nice change from the frozen swirly ice cream you get from other buffets. The ice cream was light, fruity and a great ending to an Indian feast.
Overall, Grand Indian Buffet is a great lunch deal. 9 dollars and you have two rows of items. Even my friend, who is not very adventurous in ethnic cuisines, commented that he never knew Indian food could be this good.
The only complaint I have is the buffet line and tables. Our table was right next to a wall, so if you sat on the inside, the person sitting on the outside would have to get up so that you can get out. Also the bars around the buffet line makes it a little difficult to maneuver around. |

I went here the other night with my friend for there dinner buffet. Usually other buffets charge more for dinner buffets and usually more during weekends + dinner, but not Grand Indian Buffet; the price for each person was still $8.95. When I first came in I was promptly seated by a waiter, and a pitcher of water was left there...water...with no ice...guess I can't get mad at that, but I do enjoy ice water a lot more than cool to room temperature water (it's a good thing it was a cold night).
The first thing I noticed was that there were a lot of choices to go through here. There were I believe three different kinds of rice, two different kinds of biryani, potato crepes, and so on and so forth. For my first plate I tried a little bit of everything and everything tasted good. The paneer I must say was great as it tasted exactly like creamed spinach. The tandoori chicken was very ordinary (I have yet to find a buffet that did this as good as Kebabs and Currys). And for the most part a lot of the dishes were very rich.
The only REAL gripe I had was that for the most part even though the dishes were rich and tasted good they lacked spice. I barely had to drink any water because every thing was so mild. A minor gripe was that all the meat offered was chicken, no lamb or goat or nothing, just chicken which is good I guess if you're into chicken and brocolli like me. To end the meal I grabbed several orange slices, gulab jamun, and mango soft serve. The gulab jamun was warm, but I suppose after sitting in that syrup for so long the piece I got was extremely mushy (nearly custardy). I liked the one at Mezbaan and Turmeric a lot better. The mango soft serve I do declare was amazing. It tasted just like frozen mangos and it was great. However, I'd have to go back to Mezbaan to compare the two again.
How does this stack up against the other places I've been to? GIB ends up somewhere above Mayuri, but below Turmeric, Mezbaan, and Kebabs and Currys. It's a good place to go I would say if you're in the area for a good and non-expensive Indian buffet. |

After hearing all the raves about this buffet I couldn't wait to try it. I finally found the opportunity to go this past Sunday evening. We were seated immediately and went straight for the trays and plates.
The food was plentiful and although only a small number of patrons were dining, some items continuously rolled out. I filled my plate with a variety of basmati rice, naan, curries, vegtables, and all sorts of chicken.
All of the food was prepared nicely, although none of them stood out as exceptional. I actually thought the colors of many items were frightening, the tandori chicken, mint chutney, the flourscent mango ice cream, it goes on. Tastes were a bit on the heavy/creamy side but good regardless.
It's not the OMG I MUST GO, type of buffet but I can see myself coming here every once in a blue moon.

I discovered Grand Indian Buffet (then called Sneha) in the mid 90's while working at a previous job nearby. The place was small and slightly rundown, but the quality and variety of food was great. It is now relatively close to my newest job, so I have started eating here once again. I'm glad to see the place has prospered. The dining room is larger and has been redecorated in the last few years in a slightly cheesy ballroom style. (It looks like it has been setup to host special events). It's almost always packed at lunchtime. Most importantly though, the quality of the food has remained just as high.
I was worried after the recent restaurant name change, but have not been able to detect any other change, including the food. Even the same people are working here, including the Sihk cook who constantly checks/refills the buffet bins.
This place is my ultimate spot for lunchtime Indian buffet in the area. The food is always fresh and delicious, the selection is great, and the dishes match my personal ideal of Indian food. Chana Masala, my favorite veggie dish, is just right: not too tomatoey, not too oniony, not overspiced. The Chicken Makhani or chicken Tikka Masala is to die for. In fact, I can't complain about a single dish here. My main issue is that the food is so tasty that it’s difficult for me not to overeat. (But no deduction of points for my lack of self control). And then, just when I think I can't eat another bite, I remember they include soft serve mango ice cream as part of the buffet. Hard for me to turn this down!
Total cost is about $10 if you choose to tip a dollar. Not bargain territory, but very good for the variety of delicious food.
It's hard for me to think of anything I don't like about Grand Indian Buffet. If I really had to pick something, I would say the lunch crowds and buffet lines can be a little too big and the parking can be hard to find (but there is plenty of parking across the street). So in some respect, it suffers a little from it's own success. Though I hope this means it stays open for a long, long time.
Pros: Wonderful, fresh Indian food at reasonable prices; nice variety; all you can eat Cons: all you can eat (ouch!); busy and crowded at peak hours |

Normally I tend not to write reviews from Indian buffets. Even though I have eaten at many Indian buffets, I cannot say I am any where near being an expert in Indian food. I tend to stick with the basic items anywhere I go. Those basic items include Alu Mattar, Chicken Masala, Chicken Maharaja, Tandoori Chicken, Nana, Basmati Rice, and some friend veggies or onion strips. These are the only items I eat whichever buffet I eat. The two items I go for no matter what are Chicken Masala and Rice. Absolutely love that cream sauce even though it is so bad for me.
My co-workers and I arrive around 12 pm and the place is busy although not as packed compared to when this place was Sneha. I like how they have a pitcher of water on each table so you are able to refill your own water. The waiters are there to clear away your trays, plates, and bring a new pitcher of water if necessary.
The trays of food in the buffet line is always full as someone is always checking to see which items need to be filled. The floors next to the buffet lines were clean as last time I came to Sneha, there were several spills on the floor. The only negative aspect of the buffet line is that items are different between the opposing lines. There is only one spoon for each tray, some people from the opposite side tend to reach over, and thus spilling some soupy and sauce based items into other trays on their end.
Several choices of sweets are offered: the sweet balls in syrup, sliced fruit in mango sauce, rice pudding, and mango soft serve.
Lunch buffet is cheaper than Sneha as it is only 8.95 per person. We ended up paying $11 each with tax and tip. The seating arrangement still is very similar to Sneha but the service is much faster and more attentive.
Pluses: Affordable, covers all the basic items, attentive service, accepts credit cards.
Minuses: No drink refills for sodas, the Nan tastes stale, not soft.
