Hot and Mild Taqueria does have a mild salsa indeed. Enough to leave a lingering sensation in your mouth for awhile. On a fire scale, it gets a 6. I wasnt that hungry but I cant pass up the opportunity to try some mexican food...Im a glutton...dont look at me.

I ordered 1 fish taco and carnitas. Fish taco was so-so, I dont think I would order this again. The fish had a little batter on it with a slight fishy taste to it. Im guessing they used cod or snapper? It was topped with plenty of lettuce and tomatos.

Carnitas on the otherhand was a FRICKIN POWERHOUSE!!! I can only vouche for the CARNITAS TACOS but they are one of the best carnitas you can get in the BAY AREA. Yes, you heard it here...and its in writing. There carnitas ranks in the 9-9.5 range!! It was tender and crunchy with lotsa flavor. Topped with onions and celantro, a perfect combination for any taco.

Once again, if Im in the Sunnyvale area, I would make a stop at Hot and Mild Taqueria just for the Carnitas Tacos. At $1.98, price isnt too bad. I cant judge their burritos but just looking at it, the tortillas looked weak, very runny. With the fish taco at 6.5 and carnitas at 9.5, this place evens out at a respectable 8.

Hot and Mild Taqueria was found on a driveby as so many places are. It looks inconspicous out front, located next to a 7-11, but inside its friendly and better-yet the side patio is the best of all. Very private with umbrellas for shade. Nice place to kick back.

I ordered the Vegetarian burrito which set me back about $5. It arrived after a little wait (perhaps longer than expected). It was average size for a super burrito. I cut it open and it suddenly became very messy. Its a runny burrito. The beans were standard pinto, and the rest of the ingredients were all very standard. Nothing to write home about really.

Would I return? If I was in the neighborhood and needed a decent burrito without many frills for the tastebuds, then this place would definitely work. If I wanted to relax for a few minutes with some friends on the patio and work on some mexican food on a lazy afternoon? This place would definitely work. To take out-of-town friends to experience stellar mexican food? Probably not.

I have been initiated into the double lunch club. The first place didnt quite satisfy everyone at the table, and so we also stopped at a taqueria we noticed. At first, I just got a drink and was going to enjoy the scenery, but I decided I didnt want to pass up an opportunity for another review.

I tasted both the carnitas and fish from another plate. The fish tasted cheap and too greasy – although the slight breading on the outside would have been a nice touch if it hadnt been completely saturated in oil. I opted for a carnitas taco. Though Im not a connoisseur of fine carnitas, it was tasty. The pork was very crunchy on the outside and didnt seem too fatty, as it often does. However, the toppings on the taco were raw onions and cilantro. Im more of a cheese and sour cream kind of a girl, so it was pretty dry for my palette.

The atmosphere of the place was nice – I didnt expect to find a sizeable patio attached. But, Ive had much better food much more convenient to where I spend most of my time, so I dont imagine Ill ever return to Hot and Mild Taqueria.
