We normally dont review restaurant chains but Fuddruckers is an exception. Here's the dealio, you choose the burger size, meat, cheese, and you get to visit the fixings bar to fix it the way you like it. Fuddruckers burgers come in 4 sizes; 1lb, 2/3lb, 1/2lb, and 1/3lb as well in different meats; beef, ostrich, buffalo, and turkey.

I ordered the 1/2 pounder with American cheese and shared a large side of Fudd fries. After picking up my burger I stopped by the fixings bar and topped it off with lettuce, diced onions, ketchup, and mustard. BURGER was awesome....buns were fresh; the buns are cooked daily and served soft on the outside and toasted on the inside. Meat is leaner than most fast food chains with an almost crumbly texture. I ordered my burger well done and it was still juicy. Fxings were fresh although the shredded lettuce was a bit yellow tonight.

Fuddruckers serves a mean burger and shouldnt be missed if you get the opportunity.

RETURN VISIT for Jason! 2/23/2008 - 6.5 Rating: **** Updated Review only for the Dublin Location ****

After visiting 2 more times, I'm not sure if Fuddruckers is all that anymore? The only thing going for it is the bread. The meat is just ok these days.

I ordered Kobe on previous visit and it was absolutely terrible. No redeeming value to that overpriced burger. I should have updated my review to a 5.5.

Last Saturday, I ordered the half-pounder combo cooked medium. They messed up the order, overcooked the meat, and put way too much salt and pepper on the fries. The only positive note about the visit was the cleanliness of the toppings bar.

It was better than Mcdonalds and Jack-In-The Box but given a choice between a $6 burger from Carls or Fuddruckers, I'd pick CJ's all the way.

Fuddruckers should be blowing those guys out of the water. What happened???

I have been to a number of Fuddruckers chains (throughout Bay Area and down in San Diego). Had it before being Vegetarian and after. I am happy to report that they have Veggie Patty offerings. But in all cases, the food is just greasy, the fixings are plentiful but not very well maintained in my experiences. Kind of messy. Fuddruckers is the kind of place you can take kids to and not feel guilty if they are running around. It tends to be a pretty noisy place (cement floors) so don't go there expecting anything close to intimate. With just average food and a not-so-inviting environment, its not exactly my cup of tea. I always feel guilty going here. To top it off, they are not very cheap.

I went with my mom, my brother, and his daughter. I didn't understand how the restaurant worked to begin with, but my brother walked me through it. I ordered the smallest burger I could get (which was still pretty big) and I got my niece an ice cream sundae because she was demanding one in such a cute little voice.

Anyways, the burger was pretty good. Above average, but not spectacular out of this world. I was irritated at the condiment bar as there were a lot of people standing around hoarding the items. I saw someone make themselves a salad from the condiments, and I was irritated because I just wanted to make my burger before it got cold.

The condiments were kind of messy, there were a lot of kids present in the restaurant and they felt free to run over there and stick their grubby hands into the condiments and eat them and run off, rinse, repeat. I finally got my turn to dress my burger, although I was annoyed since people were cutting in front of me. I was putting ketchup on my burger, and reaching for the lettuce and tomato, and some kid ran up to me, stuck his hand into the pickle container, grabbed a handful of pickles, stuffed them into his mouth, and ran off to play with his cousins or family, whatever. That was kind of gross and their parents were sitting around trashing their table. I was really upset at that particular family as they were very disruptive, and left their side of the restaurant a mess. It was a big party, about 3 or 4 families with their kids. I mention this because I think it affects how I view the restaurant in general. The environment wasn't too great. The kids from that table were running to my booth and trying to bother my niece and it was upsetting her, and she ended up throwing a fit and had be be removed from the restaurant to avoid making a scene.

Anyways, back to the food, it was a good dinner. The staff was nice to us, but they could have tried to keep the condiment bar clean, and they could have tried to notify the parents of the kids running amuck to keep their kids in line. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to eat there because I wasn't too impressed, and it's a bit of a drive to get there.

Ive been to Fudruckers several times. This is a chain restaurant and pretty much the same everywhere. The first time I went I had their 1lb burger. This sucker is huge. They have their own special large size buns and you put on your own fixings as you order up front and then they call your name and you pick up your order. When its busy the wait can be pretty long. Its tough to polish off a one pound burger but Ive had friends who have done it.

After ordering a one pound burger I actually never ordered it again. The first time was for the experience and that was enough. The one pound burger tends to be over cooked and dry. I now stick solely with the half pound burger or their chicken sandwich.

They also have Ostrich and Buffalo burgers which are low in fat and high in protein. The Ostrich burgers are actually pretty tasty and with condiments you cant really tell the difference between regular burgers or Ostrich.

Ive had more than their burgers as Ive had their soups, chili in a bread bowl, onion rings, fries, ice cream sundaes, and ice cream sandwiches. Depending on the Fudruckers you eat at or the server who takes your order the extra items are served differently. Typically soup is served right away with your order when you pay for your meal. They have the soup ready to go so having to wait for it with your other orders is kind of ridiculous. Also ice cream is sometimes served right away at the ice cream section or brought to your table. The proper way is that they take your order and ask what type of ice cream you want or if you order an ice cream sandwich they ask what type of cookie you want. But Ive also had servers who just take the order and decide for me how to serve it.

Service is inconsistent; its a good experience to try their menu items but not really a regular hang out. This place can get pricey as well as the food is not cheap. Unless this is your first time stick with the regular size burgers, get a drink, maybe a soup and defiantly get some desert. Their deserts are actually a good bargain for what you get.

If you plan to go to the Union City one, you should go early. Theres a lot of parking but its usually full as there are several eateries there and a movie theater. I would suggest parking towards the Barnes and Nobles side of the lot as there are several parking spots in those areas due to the longer walk.

Ostrich Burger

The burger was decent, ostrich meat is certainly leaner than beef. I liked the idea of the topping bar and the selections within. Overall though I just felt that the burgers were really nothing special. For the price I'd rather go somewhere else.

Kobe burger 1/2 lb

Fuddruckers earns the biggest letdown burger this year with their Kobe burger. I can't believe I spent $10 for this terribly overcooked tasteless burger. Stay away from the Kobe and stick to the regular beef. Their greasy onion rings suck too.
