Classic taqueria located a mile or so from Union Landing

On the drive over, we recall passing by a Taqueria so doubled back afterwards to go check it out. And what a find Taqueria Sol Azteca turned out to be. A nice authentic place with a large traditional mexican menu. MUCH better than any of the overpriced filler food you'll find at the Union Landing and decently priced as well. I ordered the Super Grilled Shrimp burrito and it came to $6.50 - not bad. The shrimps were huge, the ingredients fresh, and the mixture rich and filling. A perfect concoction of the cheese, sour cream, and guac. The three that really make the super burrito for me. The shrimps tasted fresh and they added a lot of them. With your meal, they had chips that you helped yourself to, and a large assortment of salsas to go with it. The presentation here wasn't that great, yet it seemed clean enough and the food was superb. Next time, I really want to go for the Super Veggie burrito and stack it up against the other powerhouses I've had. My two gripes were with the slightly undercooked pinto beans. Had a more solid consistency than I perhaps would prefer. . . . and with their tortilla. It was thrown on the grill, yet it was surprisingly flavorless and bland. At places like La Bamba, you get the full-on soak-in grease on the tortilla that adds even more flavor. These are small gripes, however, as the rest of the burrito was so satisfying I overlooked this. Not to mention the largeness of the burrito itself. If you are at Union Landing, skip the large assortment of uninspiring chain restaurants and take the slight trek off the beaten path and feast on some delightful mexican food.
