Anyone whos lived in LA knows about Tommys. I think I had my first Tommys chili dog in 2nd grade (the one on rampart) and didnt quite know what the hell I was eating since I was used to eating Osc*r M*y*rs. About 9 years pass and I finally get my drivers license which meant I drove practically everywhere. While cruising the LA area, I remember passing a Tommys in Eagle Rock and decided to relive my childhood experience.....wow...it was amazing. Burgers and hot dogs buried in this brown slop called chili. It was sooo damm good, I drove my friends back (45 min drive) and we basically shared a religious experience. It became a monthly event to drive 45 mins to eat Tommys famous chili burger or chili dog.

The burgers are sloppy and hot dogs have the "snap". Its not about the meat, cheese, or other toppings(btw..tomatos are awesome) ....its ALL ABOUT THE CHILI...it doesnt have the normal texture that you're used to..you know the lumps of beans and beef with occasional onions? Tommys chili is a bit smoother as if it was placed in a blender? Its hard to explain, you'll just have to take my word for it and try it out.

If you're visiting Los Angeles area, I would highly recommend Tommys. Tommys is slowly expanding in the LA area and hopefully will make it to your city. For ordering, get either the double cheese burger or chili dog. Dont forget the yellow chilis by the counter, they go well with the meal. Oh yeah, grab a ton of paper towels..you're going to need it.

Tommy's is what Tommy's is, and if it's Tommy's that you want then it's Tommy's you'll get.

All my Socal friends and even Jason told me to give this place a try, as I haven't had a burger until I've eaten a Tommy's. I finally got my chance when going to a Beverly Hills BBQ, on the way back we stopped at the location near Six Flags. I was excited as this place was legendary among friends, and even a girl at the BBQ told me 'OMG YOU HAVE TO ORDER THE CHILI CHEESE FRIES AS WELL!!!!'

'Wow this place sure had a following.' I thought, it had to be good. I was ready to see what I was missing out on. We walked in and I'm wondering what I've gotten myself into, I order a Tommy's burger and the chili cheese fries. As my number is called I looked at the burger...what is this? I poked it to make sure it wasn't alive. Well...it's dead, let's see how it tastes. First bite - Hey this isn't so bad, it's pretty tastey. Second bite - hmmm...ehhh... Third bite - Not that I'm no longer starving, what is it exactly that I'm eating? Forth bite - ok, if I finish this I'll be good. Fifth bige - one more bite. Sixth bite - whoo hooo!!!!

Well...let's not forget the chili cheese fries, I wasn't so successful with that one, I plowed through maybe 1/3 of it before calling it quits, as we had 3.5 more hours before we got home and airspace is important.

So...if it's Tommy's you want, it's Tommy's you'll have to get. As I have never had anything like this anywhere else, I won't be going back...but I'll give it a 9.5 based on pure originality.

Oh yeah...so when I told my Socal friends I finally went to Tommy's, their first reaction was 'omg, don't tell me you went there sober.' with true concern. I knew I screwed up.
