Taco Breakdown

All tacos were regular sized tacos on 2 small corn tortillas. Toppings included pico de gallo or salsa, chopped cilantro, and onions. The group considers tacos the best way to try the carnitas meat since there's less interaction with the other ingredients and meat ratio is higher than burritos. It should also be noted it would be next to impossible for us to take down 4 burritos in 1 lunchbreak.

Other deciding factors:

Payment Salsa Bar Alcohol Parking Price
Las Islitas Cash/ATM/Credit Yes Beer Tolerable $1.95
Tres Potrillos Cash/ATM/Credit Yes Beer Tolerable $1.60
Tapatio's Cash/ATM/Credit Yes Beer Best $1.95
Taqueria La Bamba Cash/ATM/Credit No Beer Terrible $1.85

With the 4 taqueria visits today, we only had time to enjoy Las Islitas salsa bar and rush/skip the others. I've visited all the taquerias and Tres Potrillos has improved their offerings with their recently upgraded bar. I'm not sure how the others feel about Tapatio's but I (Jason) think Tapatio's salsa offers the best selection out of the bunch. Taqueria La Bamba is pressed for space but they seriously need to have a salsa bar. Most taquerias offer free chips/salsa now and becoming the norm.

Overall Rankings

  1. Taqueria La Bamba - 8.95
  2. Las Islitas - 8.7
  3. Tapatio's - 8.3
  4. Tres Potrillos - 7.525
The top 2 spots was a close race but in the end Taqueria La Bamba edged out Las Islitas by a carnitas shard. All taquerias today on a whole do the best carnitas in the area and visiting each of these places will reward you with pork that you'll hold dear to your heart.

Special thanks to our brave taco crew; Dominic, Jose, and Mike.
